Notice Regarding Temporary Suspension of the"Yaima-maru" Ferry Service between Ishigaki City and Keelung City
Ishigaki City and Shosen Yaima Co., Ltd. have beenoperating the international ferry "Yaima-maru," connecting IshigakiPort and Keelung Port (Taiwan), with the aim of establishing a safe andsustainable transport system.
Since the service launched on May 28, 2026, it hasbeen utilized by many passengers. However, since July of the same year, theservice has faced challenges, including delays in establishing cargo handlingsystems, the time required to coordinate fuel supply arrangements, andfluctuations in cargo demand. Given these circumstances, we have determinedthat it is necessary to temporarily suspend operations in order tofundamentally resolve these cargo-related issues and establish a framework thatensures the route's stability and continuity.
Accordingly, we will suspend operations while wework to restructure our systems in collaboration with relevant parties andsupply chain partners. We will promptly announce the schedule for resumingoperations once it has been determined.
We are fully committed to resuming service and askfor your understanding and cooperation. We look forward to welcoming you backto Ishigaki Island, Japan, and Keelung, Taiwan, in the future.
